Holiday rental demand in Spain surges 42%

Holiday rentals demand goes up The figures for January are in and we're delighted to announce a massive increase in rental demand during our busiest month of the year.

Happily it was also the busiest month España Breaks has experienced in over 7 years of operation with new leads for owners and agents rising 42% year-on-year.

After such a difficult 2009 we've all been crossing fingers to see the market turn around. One of the biggest factors in the bounce has been an improved conversion rate: 6.5% of advert page views turned into an email lead.

The introduction of our AdScore system has played a big part in this bounce back. Many advertisers have responded extremely well to our scoring system and the information they are providing to renters is top class. It has also helped renters bridge the trust gap with private owners. Ultimately this means more bookings and happier times all round.

If you haven't yet made the most of AdScore and the recommendations we make for every advert, please do. For starters a good score means guaranteed enquiry levels: we figure if you put in the effort then we should return the favour.

In the wider market there are even more positive signs for 2010. First up the economy is finally out of recession which certainly feels like a step forward. Spain has also done extremely well in the Top 50 Holiday Destinations for 2010.

Most encouragingly Sterling is doing better against the Euro (£1 = €1.15 at the time of writing). That makes holidays in Spain cheaper for Brits and should ease the pain for owners who have seen their Spanish mortgages sky rocket over the last 18 months.

Whilst we feel much better, it certainly isn't time to get complacent. The next couple of years are likely to remain hard work and we all need to stay on top of our game to be successful.

We're going to burrow further into the figures and see if they throw up any new trends or useful pointers for owners. In the meantime don't forget to check our live enquiry stats - travellers are still leaving it late to book (just under half are looking for holidays in the next 12 weeks) so now may be a good time publicise last minute availability.
